Fall quickly a classic in Detroit
A's go down with a fight
Milton Bradley and Eric Chavez hit RBI doubles in the first, and Jay Payton added a solo homer, but the A's couldn't find a way to avert a sweep at Comerica Park. Dan Haren meant business early, fanning six batters over the first three innings. Huston Street gave up Magglio Ordonez's walk-off three-run homer in the ninth.

Tigers sweep to Series
Three years removed from a 119-loss season, the Tigers are now reigning kings of the American League. After falling behind, Magglio Ordonez hit a solo homer in the sixth to tie it. Ordonez, though, saved his best for last with a dramatic three-run blast in the ninth to polish off the sweep and send Detroit to the World Series.
