If the 2006 season has been a learning process for the young Marlins, Monday's game against the Cubs proved to be a most difficult lesson. Jason Vargas tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings of one-hit ball, and Miguel Cabrera blasted his fourth homer, but the Cubs rallied for the win courtesy of a six-run eighth.
Matt Murton scorched a game-tying two-run single in the eighth and Jacque Jones followed with a three-homer to put the exclamation point on a six-run eighth-inning rally. Carlos Zambrano registered another no-decision, but it was not for lack of effort -- the righty tied a career-high with 12 strikeouts.
