49ers quarterback Alex Smith was recently informed that the NFL will fine him if he continues to wear his lucky San Francisco Giants hat to postgame press conferences.
Reaching out a hand -- or a head -- in solidarity, Giants manager Bruce Bochy donned a 49ers cap before addressing the media Thursday afternoon at AT&T Park, and fielded questions about it after the Giants' win as well.
"Alex, he supports us, so I'm going to support him," Bochy said. "Sometimes we take some things too seriously. He comes out here and supports us, and we appreciate it."
Update: Bochy had to stretch out the 49ers hat to fit his 8 1/8-inch dome.
