Lee misses second straight for Cubs
First baseman unavailable Monday due to flu bout
By Carrie Muskat / MLB.com
Lee was one of the few hitters who was productive during the team's recent six-game road trip in which it batted .160 collectively and lost all six games. Lee has hit safely in his past seven games (.444) including a homer Saturday.
Infielder Bobby Scales, who was hitting .265, also was in the Cubs' original lineup for Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates but was scratched because of the flu. Lee was sent home, but Scales was available to pinch-hit.
Reliever Carlos Marmol also was not available. Marmol was in New York to be with his wife, Nerys, who was expecting the couple's second child. Marmol was expected back in Chicago on Wednesday.
Marmol has 11 holds, second in the Major Leagues behind the Angels' Jose Arredondo.
