Cubs to unveil Captain Morgan Club

Year-round restaurant at Wrigley open for business April 13

Looking for a new place to hang out near Wrigley Field?

The Cubs announced Tuesday they have a partnership with Captain Morgan and Harry Caray's Restaurant Group to present the Captain Morgan Club, a year-round restaurant at the legendary ballpark.

Located at the southeast corner of Wrigley Field, near the Harry Caray statue, the Captain Morgan Club will offer fans an array of exciting and unique new experiences.

"We are excited to provide this exceptional new amenity for our fans," Cubs chairman Crane Kenney said. "The Captain Morgan Club allows us to provide our fans with an extended experience at Wrigley Field, with a new dining option, expanded social space and additional restrooms. As with our bleacher expansion and seating additions of recent years, our goal is to revitalize our ballpark over time, without disturbing the character and traditions that make Wrigley Field an historic treasure."

Harry Caray, who began broadcasting the Cubs in 1981, is an icon in Chicago, and a statue honoring him is located at the corner of Addison and Sheffield.

"Our restaurants have always been Cubs fan headquarters outside Wrigley Field," said Grant DePorter, managing partner of Harry Caray's Restaurant Group. "We're thrilled to be partnering with the Cubs and Captain Morgan to offer this exciting new fan experience within the walls of Wrigley."

The Captain Morgan Club will be open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. CT Friday and Saturday, beginning April 13 with the Cubs' home opener. The 20-foot-high pavilion will have open walls and ceiling fans for warm-weather enjoyment during the summer season. The pavilion will convert to an enclosed and heated area in the winter and during cooler times during the baseball season. The 30 flat-screen TVs located throughout the space will ensure sports fans won't miss a moment of the action all year long.

The Captain Morgan Club will feature a collection of appetizers, salads and sandwiches along with a full bar. It offers the unique opportunity for friends with and without tickets to join up during home games, as ticketed guests will be granted in-and-out privileges between the stadium and the restaurant during games.

"To have two of the most recognizable brand icons in the country -- Wrigley Field and Captain Morgan -- come together for the first time is truly a breakthrough partnership and not just for either of the brands, but more importantly, for the fans," said Diana Stephens, marketing manager for Diageo, the supplier of Captain Morgan.

Guests of the Captain Morgan Club will be treated to a number of unique gameday events, including appearances by Cubs players, coaches and celebrity seventh-inning stretch performers. The Captain Morgan Club will also be the site of several pre- and postgame television broadcasts, exciting parties and promotions, Cubs charity events and other special events throughout the year.
