Wood, pitching in Peoria against Fort Wayne, came on in relief in the fifth inning. He got a first-pitch groundout by Fort Wayne's Michael Campbell to start the inning, then walked Jodam Rivera on five pitches. The next batter, Jesus Lopez, grounded out to short, and Matt Stocco flew out to center.
For the inning, Wood threw 12 pitches, and the radar gun at O'Brien Field registered 91-94 mph.
Wood is scheduled to throw on Thursday and Friday for Peoria, and Cubs general manager Jim Hendry plans on attending Friday's game.
The right-hander, sidelined because of shoulder issues, appeared in four games for the Cubs' Rookie League team in Mesa, Ariz. On Saturday, he threw 17 pitches in one inning, and gave up one hit, and walked one.
"He's still got a ways to go," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Sunday. "To his credit, he's worked hard, and gotten himself in position where he's on our radar screen."
