Chicago Cubs left-handed pitcher Ted Lilly has been named to the 2009 National League All-Star team. It is the second All-Star selection of Lilly's career, his first as a member of the Cubs.
Lilly is the first Cubs southpaw to be selected to an All-Star team since Randy Myers in 1995 and the first left-handed Cubs starter named to the team since Dick Ellsworth in 1964.
Previously, Lilly was a 2004 American League All-Star as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. He pitched a scoreless sixth inning in Houston.

Heading into this afternoon's start against the Milwaukee Brewers, Lilly is 7-6 with a 3.35 ERA (39 ER/104.2 IP) in 16 starts this season. Prior to today he had struck out 88 and walked only 23 batters in 104.2 innings, limiting foes to a .242 batting average against.
