MILWAUKEE - The Chicago Cubs today placed infielder Aramis Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated left shoulder. In addition, infielder/outfielder Ryan Freel, acquired from Baltimore yesterday, has reported and is available for tonight's 6:05 p.m. CT game against the Brewers at Miller Park.

Ramirez, 30, is hitting .364 (24-for-66) with three doubles, four homers and 16 RBI in 18 games for Chicago. He injured his shoulder in the third inning of last night's contest against Milwaukee when he dove to field a Ryan Braun ground ball.

Freel, 33, was acquired along with a cash consideration from the Orioles yesterday in exchange for outfielder Joey Gathright.

Freel, who will wear uniform No. 4, is a career .271 hitter (517-for-1910) with 98 doubles, 17 triples, 22 home runs, 118 RBI and a .357 on-base percentage in 562 major league games with Toronto (2001), Cincinnati (2003-2008) and Baltimore (2009).

The 5-foot-10, 184-pound Freel has played in only nine games with the Orioles this season due to being struck in the head by a pickoff throw April 20 in Boston. Prior to yesterday's trade, he was recalled from his rehabilitation assignment at Double-A Bowie and reinstated to Baltimore's active roster.
