The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Angel Guzman from Triple-A Iowa. In a corresponding roster move, Chicago has placed right-handed pitcher Mark Prior on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 11, with right shoulder tendinitis.

Guzman, who is scheduled to start tonight's game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, begins his third stint with the Cubs. He is 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA (16 ER/25.1 IP) in six games (four starts) in his rookie season with Chicago. Guzman has gone 4-4 with a 4.04 ERA (24 ER/75.2 IP) in 15 starts for Iowa, recording 77 strikeouts in 75.2 innings of work while allowing just one home run in his last 59.1 innings.

Prior, 25, is 1-6 with a 7.21 ERA (35 ER/43.2 IP) in nine starts this season. He most recently pitched in an 8-6 loss on August 10 at Milwaukee, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) in 3.0 innings of work. Prior began the season on the disabled list with a right subscapularis strain and missed part of July with a strained left oblique.
