Cubs recall Ryu, option Wuertz
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Jae Kuk Ryu from Iowa (AAA) and optioned right-handed pitcher Michael Wuertz to the Triple-A affiliate.

Ryu, who will make his first career start in today's game against the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field, has a 2-3 record with a 3.16 ERA (18 ER/51.1 IP) in nine games (eight starts) at Iowa this season.

Ryu, 22, began the season with Iowa before he was recalled on May 13. He made his Major League debut the following day vs. San Diego, throwing 1.0 inning of relief, before he was optioned back to Iowa on May 18.

Wuertz, 27, began the 2006 season with the Cubs, logging a 6.75 ERA (2 ER/2.2 IP) in three relief appearances. He was optioned to Iowa on April 15 before re-joining the Cubs on May 22. He made one relief appearance, pitching 1.0 inning of relief May 22 at Florida.
