The Chicago Cubs today announced that 13 players have been invited to big league camp with the club - including four who have seen major league action.
Joining the previously announced Marquis Grissom, Augie Ojeda and Mike Restovich as non-roster invitees are: pitchers Bobby Brownlie, Carmen Pignatiello, Raul Valdez and Randy Wells; catchers Dennis Anderson and Jake Fox; infielders Casey McGehee and Brandon Sing and outfielders Buck Coats and Adam Greenberg.
Grissom and Restovich both saw major league action in 2005, as Grissom played in 44 games for San Francisco and Restovich appeared in 66 combined games for Colorado and Pittsburgh. Ojeda most recently saw big league action in 2004 with Minnesota. He appeared in 148 games for the Cubs from 2000-2003.
The Cubs' spring roster currently stands at 53 players (40 on the major league roster in addition to the 13 non-roster invitees).
Cub pitchers and catchers will report to Fitch Park in Mesa, AZ, February 15 for the start of spring training - with their first workout on February 16. Position players will report February 20 with a first full-squad workout set to take place February 21.
