The Chicago Cubs today recalled left-handed pitcher John Koronka from Iowa (AAA) and optioned left-handed pitcher Rich Hill to the Triple-A affiliate.
Koronka is in his second stint with the Cubs, as he was also with the club June 1-15, going 1-2 in three starts.
The southpaw has spent the remainder of his season at Iowa (AAA), going 7-10 with a 4.71 ERA in 19 games. He struck out 82 batters and issued just 9 homers and 37 walks in 109.0 innings of work in the minors.
Hill was in his second stint with the big league club - and had gone 0-2 with a 8.57 ERA in seven games (four starts). The left-hander has also seen action this season at Iowa (AAA), West Tenn (AA) and Peoria (A).
