The Chicago Cubs today added five players to the 40-man roster, including left-handed pitcher John Gaub, right-handed pitchers Rafael Dolis and Blake Parker, catcher Welington Castillo and outfielder James Adduci. Chicago's 40-man roster now stands at 38.

The Chicago Cubs today announced their 35-game Spring Training schedule for the 2010 season. The club will play 15 home games at HoHoKam Park, 18 road games in Arizona (including a pair of games at Chase Field to close the exhibition schedule) and two games in Las Vegas against the Chicago White Sox. Spring training report dates will be announced at a later time.

Chicago Cubs Charities today announced a $20,000 contribution to community projects in the Dominican Republic through the Major League Baseball Dominican Development Alliance (MLB-DDA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Carlos Zambrano today earned a 2009 National League Silver Slugger award as voted upon by league managers and coaches. The honor is presented annually by Louisville Slugger to the best offensive players at each position in each league.

The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will play two exhibition games in Las Vegas next March for the 2010 Big League Weekend at Cashman Field, home of the Las Vegas 51s. The clubs will play on Friday, March 12, 2010 and Saturday, March 13, 2010. Games times are to be determined. The Cubs and White Sox will both feature split squads.

CHICAGO - Marking a return to family ownership, the Ricketts family today was formally introduced as the eighth ownership group in the 133-year history of the Chicago Cubs at a morning press conference at Wrigley Field.

The Chicago Cubs today announced weekend passes for the 25th annual Cubs Convention, the first under the ownership of the Ricketts family, will go on sale Wednesday, November 4, at 10 a.m. CST.

The Chicago Cubs today named Rudy Jaramillo as their major league hitting coach. Jaramillo replaces Von Joshua, who at the end of the 2009 season was offered the opportunity to return to his previous position as hitting coach at Triple-A Iowa.
