HOUSTON, TX - The Astros Foundation is hosting Houston’s first Dancing with the ‘Stros charitable event on Sunday, September 15 shortly following that day’s 1:10 p.m. contest against the LA Angels of Anaheim. The event, taking place at the House of Blues, will feature pitchers Jarred Cosart, Dallas Keuchel and Lucas Harrell, as well as infielder/outfielder Jake Elmore and All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve.
In this fun spin-off of the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars, the competing players will take to the dance floor and try to impress the toughest judges of all- their teammates on the 2013 Astros roster. Each of the Astros dancers will be partnered with a professional dancer, selecting his own recorded musical track and working with a professional choreographer on a performance in a style of his choice.
Doors to the main concert hall at the House of Blues open at 6:00 p.m. for those with Dancing tickets for a cocktail reception following the conclusion of Sunday’s 1:10 p.m. game. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door to the event. Door prizes will also be given away during the reception and before the show, currently scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. (start time subject to change depending on length of game). Sponsorships and a limited number of individual tickets are available for purchase, and because this is a charitable fundraiser, a portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
More information on the event is available at www.astros.com/dancing or by calling 713-259-8851.
This charitable fundraiser benefits The Astros Foundation and its free programs for at-risk youth offered by the Astros Urban Youth Academy in the Acres Homes section of Northwest Houston.
