Atlanta Braves Host Second Annual Jackie Robinson Youth Baseball Invitational, presented by Delta Air Lines
WHAT : In honor of the 66th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball, the Atlanta Braves will host the Second Annual Jackie Robinson Baseball Invitational, presented by Delta Air Lines today, April 13. Sixteen teams, ranging in ages from 5-12 years old, have been invited to the Braves Baseball Academy at the Villages at Carver YMCA to compete against each other in a free tournament to honor Robinson's legacy. The tournament will consist of each team playing a minimum of two games in double elimination format. The winning teams in each age division will receive a championship trophy and all teams will have the opportunity to take a photo with former Braves outfielder Brian Jordan. Jordan will speak to the children on the impact of Robinson's legacy in baseball and in his own career. His best-selling children's books entitled, "I Told You I Can Play," "Overcoming the Fear of Baseball," and "Time-Out For Bullies" will be available for purchase. Fans purchasing books will receive an autographed photo of Brian Jordan.
WHEN: Tournament: Saturday, April 13 from 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
