Lee misses game for birth of second child
Piniella expects veteran first baseman to return on Saturday
NEW YORK -- Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee missed a second consecutive game Friday to be home with his family for the birth of a son. Manager Lou Piniella said he expects Lee to return to the lineup Saturday afternoon for the second game of a three-game weekend series against the Mets at Citi Field.
The Cubs could offer no details about the baby, the second born to Lee and his wife Christina.
"I hope he remembers it's a day game," Piniella said with a laugh before the Cubs played the Mets on Friday. "I hope everyone is resting comfortably and everything is well at home."
