MESA, Ariz. -- Cubs outfielder Milton Bradley was scratched from Monday's lineup because of the flu, and infielder Aaron Miles, sidelined with a bruised shoulder, was closer to getting in a game.

Bradley, who has played in seven games and was hitting .297, was to start in right field against the Milwaukee Brewers, but Micah Hoffpauir was inserted there for Monday's game. It's the second time this spring Bradley has been sidelined with the flu.

Miles injured his right shoulder March 10 in Peoria, Ariz. He took batting practice against the coaches on Sunday, the first time he's done any hitting other than in a cage.

When he does return, expect him to play primarily at second base to avoid making any throws across the infield which might aggravate his shoulder.

"I feel like the arm is going to be there," Miles said. "I threw good [Sunday]. I think everything is for a precautionary reason. I'll have to make some throws from short in batting practice and see how I feel the next day before he puts me on that side of the diamond. It's just wait and see."

He said he's willing to go to Minor League camp for extra at-bats if needed. Miles was batting .267 in nine games this spring.

Cubs reliever Randy Wells also was sent home from camp on Monday because of the flu.
