Mariners at the plate: Ichiro Suzuki went 1-for-2 to finish Spring Training with a .211 average. Jose Vidro had two hits and ended the exhibition season with a .206 average.

Cubs at the plate: Reed Johnson led off the game with a home run. Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-3. Alfonso Soriano was 1-for-3, ending Spring Training with a .300 average.

Mariners on the mound: Left-hander Jarrod Washburn gave up seven hits and three runs, two earned, in five innings in his final tuneup. Miguel Batista, who is also in the Mariners' rotation, threw three scoreless innings, permitting four hits, while striking out two and walking none.

Cubs on the mound: Ryan Dempster, who was the Cubs closer last season but is moving into the rotation this season, held the Mariners to one run on six hits over four innings. Jon Lieber faced two batters and got three outs in his only inning.

Up next, Mariners: Left-hander Erik Bedard, who was the Orioles' 2007 Opening Day starter, will throw the first pitch of the Mariners' 2008 season on Monday at 3:40 p.m. PT against the Rangers at Safeco Field. Kevin Millwood will start for the Rangers.

Up next, Cubs: The Cubs go home to Chicago for a workout at Wrigley Field Sunday, bringing 27 players as they wait to trim the last two players off their roster to reach the 25-man limit. Carlos Zambrano gets the Opening Day nod, facing Milwaukee's Ben Sheets at 1:20 p.m. CT.
