Righty retires 11 straight after first-inning homer in Cubs' win

Cubs at the plate: Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run single, Ryan Theriot hit a three-run double and Jason Marquis hit a run-scoring single as part of a six-run first against former Cubs righty Greg Maddux. Theriot finished 2-for-3 with two runs and a steal, his sixth of the spring.
Padres on the mound: Maddux had a rough outing, surrendering six runs (one earned) during a 20-minute first inning. Khalil Greene committed an error on the game's first play and the first five Cubs reached safely. In total, Maddux yielded seven hits, two walks and seven runs (two earned) in four innings, striking out four.
Cubs on the mound: Marquis allowed the homer to Gonzalez in the first, but went on to retire the final 11 batters he faced. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate. In 4 1/3 innings, he allowed four hits and three runs while striking out five.
