Cubs the plate: Third baseman Casey McGehee doubled and homered off of Nick Masset, driving in two runs. Matt Murton knocked out two hits, and Micah Hoffpauir had three. Hoffpauir ended the game hitting .486.

White Sox at the plate: Jim Thome launched his second home run, a mammoth clout off of Neal Cotts, giving the White Sox a 5-3 lead in the seventh. Jason Bourgeois provided the kind of spark the team is looking for from its leadoff hitter, as the center fielder singled once and walked twice, drove in one run and picked up a trio of stolen bases. Juan Uribe added two hits.

Cubs on the mound: Rich Hill exited after striking out A.J. Pierzynski looking in the fourth, working 3 2/3 innings in total. The left-hander yielded two runs on three hits, walking three and picking up just the one strikeout.

White Sox on the mound: Making a spot start in place of Mark Buehrle, Masset gave up three runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings. The right-hander, battling for a spot as a long reliever, struck out one and walked one.

Cactus League records: Cubs 6-12; White Sox 9-10.

Up next for the White Sox: After officially being named as the team's fifth starter on Friday, Gavin Floyd takes the mound against the Diamondbacks for his third start of the spring. Floyd will be followed by Ehren Wasserman, one of the relievers competing with Masset for the seventh and final spot out of the White Sox bullpen.

Up next for the Cubs: Opening Day starter Carlos Zambrano is slated to start Sunday when the Cubs play host to the Angels at HoHoKam Park in Mesa. This will be Zambrano's fourth start. The game will be broadcast on MLB.TV and Gameday Audio. The Cubs are 0-2 against the Angels so far this spring.
