CHICAGO -- Want to celebrate the Cubs' winning the National League Central Division?

Come party at Cubs Rally Monday at Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago, beginning at noon CT on Monday. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will attend, as well as other special guests.

Fans are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m., and the event is scheduled to last until 12:45 p.m. The event is free and will be held rain or shine.

"We encourage all of our fans throughout the Chicagoland area to wear Cubbie blue on Monday and celebrate with us in Daley Plaza," said Jay Blunk, director of marketing for the Cubs. "This year, Cub fans have proven once again they are the most loyal in professional sports. Monday's celebration is a tribute to them and the heroics of the 2007 Chicago Cubs."

The Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, 6-0, and the San Diego Padres topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-3, to give Chicago its first division title since 2003. That year, the Cubs were five outs away from advancing to the World Series for the first time since 1945, but lost in seven games to the Florida Marlins.

Cubs fans don't need an excuse to party, but this will be a chance to celebrate the season and probably sing at least one chorus of Steve Goodman's song "Go Cubs Go," which has become the postgame anthem at Wrigley Field after wins.

Rally Monday was instituted in 2004 and has grown into an annual happening in the cities where postseason games will be played. Each participating club that is playoff-bound, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, has prepared an entertainment slate that is free of charge and typically includes live music, playoff ticket giveaways, local vendors and celebrity appearances. Rally Monday also gives local and national business partners a chance to capitalize on the excitement of each club's advancement into the postseason, engaging fans in a celebration setting.

"Rally Monday is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the eight teams in postseason play and acknowledge and thank baseball fans in each market," said Tim Brosnan, MLB's executive vice president of business. "Rally Monday announces that these eight clubs have a shot to achieve their ultimate goal -- to win the World Series."

Others scheduled to attend Monday's event are Billy Williams, Andy Pafko, Tim Stoddard, Mickey Morandini and Doug Glanville.
