CINCINNATI -- Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood struck out one in one inning Friday night for Class A Peoria in his third outing for the Minor League team.

Wood, who threw 12 pitches Thursday night, started Friday's game against Dayton. This was his first back-to-back test, and Cubs general manager Jim Hendry was in attendance. The radar gun at O'Brien Field registered his fastball between 92-94 mph.

Wood, trying to come back from shoulder problems, faced three batters. Dayton's Drew Stubbs was called out on strikes to lead off, and Wood got the next batter, Justin Turner, to ground out, and Juan Francisco to fly out. Wood started the game because of inclement weather headed toward Peoria.

The Cubs were expected to determine the next phase of Wood's rehab after they see how the right-hander feels on Saturday. He had pitched four innings over four outings for the Mesa Rookie League team before going to Peoria.
