Ted Lilly takes the mound for the Cubs Thursday afternoon as the Cubs go for their third win over the San Francisco Giants in the finale of the four-game series.

Lilly (9-4) has won his last four outings and is 1-1 with a 6.27 ERA in three career starts against San Francisco.

The Cubs beat the Giants, 12-1, Wednesday for their 17th win in their last 22 games. The team's 27-13 record since June 3 is the best in the Major Leagues, and a win Thursday would be their sixth series win in their last seven.

"Everybody's been doing their job," said catcher Koyie Hill, who had a career-high five RBIs Wednesday. "That's winning baseball in a nutshell. Everybody's got to do their part, whether it's a big one or a small one, and I think everybody's really comfortable with the role that they're in."

The Giants will try to split the series behind Matt Morris (7-5), who is 11-7 in 25 career starts against the Cubs.

Pitching matchup
CHC: LHP Ted Lilly (9-4, 3.51 ERA)
Lilly tamed a homer-friendly wind at Wrigley Field in his last start, holding the Astros to four hits over eight innings. He has won five of his last six starts and has pitched at least six innings in each of those games. He helped himself against Houston with an RBI single, only the third RBI of his career.

SF: RHP Matt Morris (7-5, 3.86 ERA)
Morris tossed a perfect first two innings in his last start, holding the Dodgers to two hits in four innings before unraveling in the fifth. He gave up two home runs and six earned runs. After the game, Morris said his cutter has been the biggest problem in his past couple of starts.

Player to watch
Jason Kendall will make his second start for the Cubs after being acquired from Oakland on Monday. Kendall was 0-for-3 in his debut Tuesday night and is batting .214 (9-for-42) against Morris.
