Santo movie to open end of March
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
CHICAGO -- "This Old Cub," the documentary on former Chicago Cubs third baseman Ron Santo, will be released in theaters at the end of March, according to a spokesman for Emerging Pictures, which is handling the distribution.

The emotional 90-minute documentary, which was filmed, directed and produced by Santo's son Jeff, details Ron Santo's life and the resilient way he has dealt with his health issues. Santo has lost both legs because of complications with diabetes.

The movie will be released in eight theaters in the Chicago area and a few in the Phoenix area at the end of March, according to Emerging Pictures.

A percentage of the proceeds from the film will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The fans attending the Cubs Convention in January got a sneak preview of the movie, and gave it a standing ovation.
