The Yankees took their first step toward a 39th American League pennant, advancing to the AL Championship Series with a convincing win over the Minnesota Twins in Game 4 of the ALDS on Sunday. The Yankees' six-run fourth inning blew the game open and left-hander David Wells surrendered just one run to the Twins over 7 2/3 innings, while recording his 19th career victory against Minnesota.  Full story >

The Twins' hopes of extending their postseason came to an abrupt end in the Metrodome on Sunday when the Yankees came away with a victory to win the AL Division Series and end Minnesota's season. Twins starter Johan Santana couldn't get out of the fourth inning, when the Yankees sent 12 men to the plate, scoring six times. Minnesota's offense continued to struggle against Yankee pitchers, coming up with just one run.  Full story >
