Cubs Job Opportunities

The Chicago Cubs currently have an opening in their Accounting department for a Manager, Disbursements and Collections reporting to the CFO.

ROLE

This position is responsible for managing the accounting processes and procedures surrounding payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable including ensuring adequate controls are in place. Position responsibilities include some analysis of the company's financial activity on a timely basis in accordance with accounting policies and procedures in addition to generally accepted accounting principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To efficiently manage the accounts payable process ensuring accurate and timely payments. Develop policies and procedures to ensure proper controls and documentation in accordance with GAAP and tax reporting.
  • To efficiently manage the payroll process to ensure accuracy and compliance with all governmental agencies. Develop policies and procedures to ensure proper controls and documentation.
  • To efficiently manage the accounts receivable process ensuring that payments are received and accounted for timely properly. Timely follow up on outstanding invoices. Develop policies and procedures to ensure proper controls.
  • To manage payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable staff.
  • To manage the college scholarship plan
  • To manage diversity reporting for Major League Baseball.
  • To coordinate all aspects of vendor relationships.
  • To review and/or prepare all monthly, quarterly and year-end closing information as designated.
  • To manage all aspects of financial and government audits related to your responsibilities.
  • To assist in the re-establishment of the p card program. After establishment, manage the process ensuring proper procedures and controls surrounding the program.
  • To monitor AMEX card activity.
  • To assist with various projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  • A CPA is preferred.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills and the capability to under time constraints, organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft excel and access.
  • Strong managerial and communication skills.
  • 5 years experience in a management role.
