Did they serve cake on the mound?

If you put 57 people in a room, there's a 99 percent probability that two will have the same birthday. It's math!

But apparently that number decreases when you bring Major League pitchers into the equation.

Prior to Thursday's Ryan Dempster-Homer Bailey duel in Cincinnati, no two pitchers had ever taken the hill against each other while both celebrating birthdays. Dempster, who went eight strong innings, was turning 35. Bailey is 26.
