Community Relations Guidelines
Each year the community relation's staff processes over 6,000 formal requests for the donation of autographed items and tickets for use in charitable fundraising auctions and raffles.
Although we wish we could support all worthwhile events, it is not possible. The following guidelines are used when considering donation requests:
- All requests must be submitted in writing. They must contain the following information: Date of event, type of fund-raiser and where the proceeds will be going.
- Donations are for charitable fund-raising purposes only (auctions and raffles). We are unable to provide door prizes.
- Our target area is the state of Illinois and a 100-mile radius from the city of Chicago. We also try to include events in Mesa, Arizona and DesMoines, Iowa. The Chicago Cubs spring training facility is in Mesa and our AAA Affiliate, the Iowa Cubs are in DesMoines.
- Fans need to allow adequate time to process each request. Due to tremendous volume, fans must allow 6-8 weeks for processing. All requests are processed on a first come, first served basis.
- The Chicago Cubs will not accept merchandise for the purpose of autographing. Merchandise is returned immediately with a letter explaining autograph procedures.
- Organizations will receive only one item per year. This helps us in our attempt to help the greatest number of charities possible.
- Fund-raisers to benefit an individual person or families are not generally honored. Local hardship cases are exceptions.
- We support the local chapter of all national charities. We cannot support each individual chapter.
Organizations located in the target area are given every consideration.
How to request an auction or raffle item
Your charity is having a fund-raiser, and your group is looking for raffle or auction items. What are you to do? Send a formal request, in writing on your organization's official letterhead to:
Community Relations
Chicago Cubs
1060 W. Addison St.
Chicago, IL 60613
Tell us about the date of your event, what type of event you are having, how much you are looking to raise, and where the funds will be going. Please allow six to eight weeks for a response. (Please note: we are unable to accept faxed or e-mailed requests.)
The Chicago Cubs are happy to support thousands of charities each year in their fund-raising endeavors. To reach as many organizations as possible, we kindly request that organizations do not request more than one item per year.
Donation of group tickets for charities
The Chicago Cubs' Special Group Ticket Program is designed to provide tickets to groups that would not normally be able to afford a visit to Wrigley Field.
Dempster's Dugout Program
Ryan Dempster and his wife Jenny will host over 500 children this year through their Dempster's Dugout ticket program. Guests will receive lunch at the ballpark as part of their special day at the Friendly Confines.
Non-profit organizations interested in applying for tickets should either write or call the Cubs' Community Relations office to request a
Special Group Ticket Application. Applications are accepted beginning March 1st.
