Cubs on the Move

Cubs on the Move Fitness Trolley

Developing the next generation of leaders starts with a strong foundation in health and fitness. The Cubs work with several organizations to emphasize the values of physical fitness.

The Cubs and Cubs Charities are committed to improving the health of Chicago's children. To help address childhood obesity and to promote fitness and baseball, Cubs Charities developed the Cubs on the Move Fitness Program, encouraging kids to play every day. The mission of the Cubs on the Move Fitness Program is to get kids active and healthy.

In 2016, more than 1,000 children from four schools across Chicagoland participated in the Cubs on the Move Fitness Program. Group exercises were led by the Cubs and students learned basic baseball skills. Participating schools included Fredrich Ludwig Jahn Elementary School, Gunsaulus Scholastic Academy, Alfred Nobel Elementary and National Teachers Elementary Academy. The Cubs also launched an online fitness curriculum offered to more than 1 million children in Chicago and northwest Indiana schools.

Kids who followed the Cubs on the Move Fitness Program planned and monitored their daily exercise through weekly fitness logs and were rewarded with a trip to a Wrigley Field and fitness-related prizing.
